The 2026 Golden Globes were still a big night for entertainment, fashion, and pop culture, even as viewership and ratings declined. Nikki Glaser hosted for the second year in a row, successfully pulling off digs at Leonardo DiCaprio, hitting on Michael B Jordan in front of his mother, and a K-pop rendition. Teyana Taylor gave a heartwarming and inspirational speech, dedicating her Best Supporting Actress win to “the little brown girls watching tonight”. Owen Cooper became the youngest-ever winner of a Golden Globe Award at just 16, for his starring role in ‘Adolescence'. Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor and shouted out Kylie Jenner in his acceptance speech, again. And Amy Poehler won the inaugural “Best Podcast” Award for “Good Hang with Amy Poehler,” which just premiered in 2025, notably beating out her ex-husband’s podcast.
Harry Styles has announced his fourth album, “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally,” to be released on March 6th. Almost four years since his last album, there has been much online speculation about his comeback.
“Heated Rivalry” is a cultural phenomenon. The television series, starring the up-and-coming Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, follows the secret, yearning romance between gay closeted major league hockey stars and has quickly become a sensation. The low-budget Canadian series has evolved to late-night TV guest appearances, red carpet attention, and, most recently, the inspiration for real-life hockey player Jesse Kortuem to come out online after years of privacy. It is now the top-rated non-animated acquired series on HBO Max since its 2020 launch, and fans are already demanding a season 2.
The Algorithm
Dry January may have taken on a second meaning, not just sober but also celibate. British Vogue published a viewpoint piece by Olivia Petter, titled “Why January Is Actually The Best Time To Go Sex Sober”. The piece outlined how the sudden burst of self-improvement inspiration in the New Year often prompts singles to pursue dating with even more force. Upon reflection, she suggests focusing on yourself and maybe circling back to dating in March.
2016 is making a comeback. A decade later, social media is full of throwback posts with VSCO filters featuring boho looks at Coachella, chokers with your concert merch tee, Snapchat filters, high-rise skinny jeans, and lots of Los Angeles palm trees. Fashion aside, people are reminiscing for the time social media felt personal, doomscrolling hadn’t yet ruined our attention spans, and there was hope.
Spencer Pratt has announced he will be running for mayor of Los Angeles. The former reality TV star, primarily known for his time on MTV’s The Hills, has been outspoken against the current local government and incumbent mayor, after the tragic Palisades Fires in which he and his wife, Heidi Montag, lost their home.
Vogue has launched a book club, and the first selection, Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, is just in time for the film adaptation starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, coming to theaters on Valentine’s Day. Coinciding with the popular New Year’s resolution of “reading more” and the undying popularity of BookTok, the launch of the Vogue Book Club is the perfect time to join the “go-to source for Gothic literary gossip”.
Fashion
Coach is engaging with its Gen Z audience where they are—online. The brand has launched a collection in The Sims 4 video game, enabling the game’s mostly female players to access Coach’s ready-to-wear line, including the popular Brooklyn and Tabby bags.
Saks Global has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Of the many brands that Saks owes money to, Chanel tops the list with an unsecured claim exceeding $136 million, followed by conglomerate Kering with nearly $60 million in unpaid claims. The list goes on, featuring LVMH, Christian Louboutin, The Estée Lauder Companies, Meta, and Google, each with multi-million-dollar claims.
Beauty & Wellness
Lemme has added creatine supplements to its quickly expanding product line. The launch of the Body Toning Gummies follows the brand’s collustrum supplements in November and fat-burning gummies in December. Creatine, long known to improve athletic performance, has recently undergone a marketing revamp after new studies found benefits for women’s wellness, cognitive health, and healthy aging. Lemme’s launch comes after competitor and female-focused brand Arrae launched their own creatine supplements.
Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez will be expanding its retail footprint into Ulta stores nationwide. The launch, including the brand’s best-sellers and hero products, will be available February 1st in all 1500+ stores and online. With the rollout, Ulta Beauty will launch its first guest donation partnership with a brand, with 50% of guest donations going to Rare Impact Fund, which empowers youth in communities across the country by supporting their wellbeing and mental health.
Drunk Elephant is attempting to reconnect with its core customer after becoming synonymous with Sephora-obsessed tweens. With a new marketing campaign intended to emphasize the science-backed skincare and efficacy, the tagline “Please Enjoy Responsibly” draws parallels to other products not intended for children. Updated retail merchandising and a refreshed social media feed reflect the brand’s target consumer: adult women seeking intentional skincare.
Finance & Tech
Sauz has brought on influencers as investors in a strategic funding round. Reality TV stars, former child actors turned social media personalities, and podcasters alike are putting their money where their mouths are, turning their posting efforts into actual partnerships.
OpenAI has introduced ‘ChatGPT Health’, a new feature that will provide personalized health advice and information from the medical documents and wearable device data that users can upload. It is already common for users to ask the AI for workout and diet advice, but there are concerns about sharing sensitive medical information, even within a separate, encrypted feature that reportedly includes security and privacy measures.
Spotify is raising its U.S. subscription prices for the third time in four years, proving even your music listening isn’t safe from inflation. The new pricing will raise costs for the individual, Duo, Family, and student plans, with increases ranging from $1 to $3.
MacKenzie Scott donated $45 million to The Trevor Project. The gift is the largest in the organization’s history and comes after the non-profit hotline for LGBTQ+ youth lost significant federal funding in the Summer of 2025. Billionaire and author Scott has donated $7.1 billion to non-profits in 2025.
